FAWM 2020 #2: Gringo in the Mercado
I shop at my neighborhood Latin market fairly often, and wondered what goes through the employees and other customers minds.
Lyrics
Here comes that gringo in the mercado,
Not a Latino, but a gringo, buying fresh-today avocados.
Does he know we talk about him?
Does he understand the words we say?
The gringo in the mercado -- he's back again today.
Big bags of frijoles and rice weigh his basket down.
Queso fresco, and all kinds of spice, tortillas by the pound.
Is he throwing some kind of fiesta?
Or is this his regular comidas?
We wonder as he greets us.
Enquiring minds want to know!
