FAWM 2018 #12: Pitfalls and Perils

I realized while recording this song that it is sort of a companion piece to Brambles and Briars which I hadn't intended at all.

Claiming the key change challenge, although one could argue agin' it.

Lyrics

There's nothing quite like that first time
You slip behind the wheel of a car.
A shining road stretched out before you.
You're certain you're gonna go far.

There's nothing quite like the first time
You step into the world on your own.
Your whole life one big adventure,
You're certain you're gonna go far.

But that road is filled with curves and potholes,
Traffic jams .... and sudden detours.

The promise of the first time is never quite fulfilled:
Pitfalls and perils could even get you killed.
But don't turn back, the trip is worth the cost.
You can find your way home, even if you get lost.

There's nothing quite like that first time
You kiss a new lover's face.
Romance stretched out before you.
You're certain its is the end of the race.

But the road is filled with curves and potholes,
Traffic jams .... and sudden detours.

The promise of that first kiss may never be quite fulfilled.
Love is a gamble, full of pain and thrills.
But don't turn back, the trip is worth the cost.
You can find your way home, even if you get lost.

Don't turn back, the trip is worth the cost.
You can find your way home, even if you get lost.
